General error

System alert messages usually indicate faulty technical conditions of the system, but have no further effect on the dispensability of the medicines.

Description and cause:

A general technical error has occurred. This is due to an internal problem with the National Medicines Validation System (NMVS) or the EU Hub.

Handling instructions:

Run the transaction again. If the error message occurs during deactivation, it is recommended that you carry out a verification before repeating the process. As a technical error can also occur even when a successful deactivation is confirmed, this would result in a duplicate deactivation in this case.

Procedures for the scanning staff:

  1. Please wait a moment. Carry out the same operation again. It is highly likely that the NMVS system is only experiencing a temporary fault.
  2. If a double deactivation is reported immediately after this fault, please report the incident.

Procedures for the responsible person:

If double deactivation errors occur following a technical fault, the following measures should be taken:

  1. Look for the pack in the Control Panel. Check whether a general technical error occurred immediately before the double deactivation.
  2. In this case, the transaction data has been stored incorrectly in the NMVS. This is a technical error that cannot be rectified. The pack in question can no longer be reactivated because the original FMD operation that triggered the unexpected error was not fully completed by the NMVS. The package was deactivated internally, but this status was not fully recorded in the database within the aborted transaction. Consequently, no further operations can be carried out on this transaction. In particular, reactivation is not possible. The package remains deactivated. This is an error on the part of the NMVS.
